2025 Couples Session Guide

01, About your session
My approach is laid back and free-flowing with a bit of quirk. The result is a collection of ~50 photos to share with friends and family.
Aside from having photos of the two of you, this session is when we really get to know each other. You, me, and the camera. You’ll quickly get a feel for how I use gentle direction to capture you naturally.

Whatever the case may be, it’s great practice for the wedding day photos as well. The wedding day shooting goes so much quicker and smoother if we’re all comfortable and if we know what to expect of each other
It’s the perfect way for us to learn a lot about each other’s personalities; it’s amazing how much I learn about how couples interact just by hanging out and taking photos.
After the session, I’m always open to any feedback you may have in case we need to change anything for the wedding day portraits. Some couples prefer fewer kissing photos, sometimes the sessions lead people to discover their “good side.”

02, Scheduling your session
Engagement sessions usually last 1 hour and are likely to be on a weekday and ideally in the evening. The best light is one hour before sunset. However, I’m always up for shooting any time of day.
This time and part of the week is usually less busy anywhere we are planning the photoshoot. This can help you feel more comfortable and immerse yourself more in the moment with your partner.

Scheduling your session is super easy and simple. Once you are ready to book it, I’ll send you a link to secure a day and time that works best for you. I normally reach out three months before your wedding if I haven’t heard from you before.

03, Location

I can shoot anywhere, and I often draw inspiration from the surroundings. Choosing a unique location that reflects who you are as a couple is always a great idea.
Consider what inspires you – whether it’s a place with sentimental value, something tied to your hobbies, careers, or passions, or simply a fun and unexpected spot. The more personal, the better. The best locations often blend quirkiness with a touch of the unexpected.
I have a list of locations I can share, ranging from peaceful sandy beaches to vibrant cityscapes. I also often meet clients at their wedding venue, which can be helpful for assessing the lighting conditions and practicing a few poses ahead of the big day.
What to wear?

Wear something you are comfortable in
It’s key to wear something comfortable – what makes you feel better. It can greatly influence your mood, and the way you walk and not mentioned that the last thing you want to worry about is adjusting your dress.
Most couples wear smart casual but feel free to explore any options you like.
Have a backup plan in your mind…
The weather is not always that great! Although snuggling together under an umbrella can look lovely it can also be a nightmare if the weather getting worse. Reschedule for weather up to a day in advance.

Have FUN!
This is a great opportunity for you and your photographer to get to know each other, and for you to have a lot of fun relaxing, laughing and spending time hugging your other half while creating some stunning photographs that you will want to put all over your wall. Enjoy it!
