About
Highdown Vineyard is a family-run working vineyard producing award-winning wine and providing a wonderful place for weddings with its large barn building and a separate suite for ceremonies. It’s designed to host from intimate to large weddings throughout the whole year. I was there for a wonderful winter wedding in January.
Lovely space
There are two rooms used for most of the day. The larger one is used for the guests to gather before the ceremony and for the reception party. There is plenty of space here for all your guests to enjoy a delicious meal and have a few drinks from the bar.
The smaller room (Bacchus Suite) is used for the ceremony and later it’s transformed into the dancefloor. This room has beautiful views of the vineyard as well as the South Downs. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on the car park from this room before the ceremony starts. If the guests use the last three slots of the car park you will see their cars throughout the day from the windows and of course, on most of the photos your photographer takes. It’s a good idea to ask someone from your guest list to keep this in mind.
Ceremony in Bacchus Suite
The Bacchus Suite is licenced for civil ceremonies. With its LED light strips hanging from the ceiling and elegant furniture in this relatively small, room, you will feel super cosy. It also can be used for formal family portraits in case of bad weather.
Vineyard and the outside space
At the time I visited this venue, it was raining nonstop the whole day so it wasn’t easy for couple portraits, but we managed to snap a few nice moments. I can imagine during summer and dry days the outside space is absolutely lovely for both the couple and all the guests. There are not too many vineyards in the UK so don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful and unique landscape.
Reception & evening party
The team at Highdown Vineyard (I met Paul and his team) will 100% look after everyone. The main room is just large enough for all your guests to have a fantastic time but bring everyone close together to make it more intimate.
