My top 15 favourite wedding venues in Surrey

Are you planning your wedding in Surrey? Here are my 15 wedding venues that you want to check out!

Hi and welcome to my photography world! I’m an experienced wedding photographer nestled in the heart of the South-East, immersed in the art of capturing those unforgettable wedding moments. Whether you are looking for a rustic barn or a high-end mansion for your special day you will find inspiration in my list of my 15 favourite wedding venues in Surrey.

Throughout the years, I’ve built strong relationships with charming wedding venues scattered across Surrey, forming a close-knit community. Given the scarcity of picturesque spots, I frequently return to familiar places. To my pleasant surprise, each visit brings renewed joy! I feel incredibly lucky to be immersed in such wonderful countryside wedding venues. For my couples, selecting the perfect setting from this array of stunning locations can feel overwhelming, and I completely understand – each venue offers a different, unique backdrop for a memorable wedding. Here, I’ve selected a diverse selection of standout venues to inspire you and help with planning.

At a glance

There are SO many amazing wedding venues in Surrey. Below is a list of some of the places, in no particular order, where I’ve had the pleasure of shooting. Take a glance at what’s available in your area from a wedding photographer’s perspective.

The Old Rectory Estate

The Old Rectory Estate may look like a film set but that’s not accidental. It is actually used for filming many TV programs and films. So getting married there for Charis & Jos was a dream to come true. The wedding started in London at their home with the preparations. The ceremony was held in their local church then a double-decker bus took all guests to the reception venue in Surrey.

This stunning and elegant place will accommodate you and your guests whether you want an outdoor ceremony, just an intimate celebration or a huge party till late.

Hartsfield Manor

We are staying in the same area in fact, this venue is on a road with the same name. I am a frequent visitor of Hartsfield Manor, and I consistently discover unique opportunities for photos while always noting how great the team is here. It has stunning outdoor spaces (16 acres!), and stunning and spacious indoors. You can choose to have your ceremony outside or pick two indoor rooms depending on the number of guests you invite.

Nutfield Priory Hotel, Redhill

Nutfield Priory is on my doorstep as I live just over a 15-minute drive away and is one of my favourites in the area. Nutfield is very similar to Hartsfield Manor (both are Victorian houses) but at the same time is very different in many good ways. You will not be disappointed with the outdoor space and your guests will have a fantastic time even if the weather is rainy or cold.

Dennis & Margarita had their ceremony in their home town nearby then held their evening celebration here on a chilly November Saturday. We had been so lucky to be able to take stunning outdoor portraits during the short daylight that was available as well as some awesome and moody portraits after dark in the foggy front entrance. Inddors is all yours too if you are after some breathtaking couple portraits.

Leatherhead Registry Office

Registry offices are not mentioned so often but many couples consider having smaller ceremonies. Leatherhead Registry Office in my opinion is one of the best looking ones in the region. Not particularly close to me yet I always enjoy photographing weddings here. Here are a few keywords that I think describe this venue well: Stunning garden, warm and beautiful ceremony room indoor, intimate weddings, large car park, access to River Mole with a short walk for more photo opportunities, and town centre location.

Bower Hill Farm

Not the usual ‘wedding venue’ but more a field that is available for event hire. With many entertainment and catering companies offering full arrangements from ceremonies to dancefloor setup for your evening party, the options are unlimited. If you are more of a DIY person and like to have freedom in your creativity Bowe Hill Farm might be a perfect setting for your special day.

Jade & Dan had their ceremony at their favourite church locally for them a short drive away from Bower Hill. It was a rainy weekend and it was worrying them in the morning but if you check out their photos you’ll see everything turned out perfectly. We even could use the rain to our advantage on a few evening portraits.

The Mill at Elstead

Elstead is a small town in Surrey known for the Elstead Old Bridge and the Elstead Mill. Guess what, you can get married at the Mill! I had the pleasure of shooting two weddings here recently. You need to check out this gorgeous building filled with history, walk along River Wey and enjoy their amazing food at the pub.

Coltsford Mill

Ideal venue for couples that are looking for a place to have everything from morning prep areas all the way to the dancefloor for their evening party. Whether you like posing or not you will want a portrait by the River Eden or one of the many ponds around the venue.

Ivy & Malcolm had their dream wedding at Coltsford Mill in 2023 late summer and they couldn’t be luckier about how the day turned out. I met them prior to their special day a few months earlier for a quick venue visit and photoshoot. This was an excellent example of combining the two in one visit and having stunning photos to share.

Hookhouse Farm

Hookhouse is a family-run functioning farm in Outwood close to Gatwick Airport. It’s so DIY! They provide the barn for hire but everything else will be up to you (other suppliers). This way you can go super hands-on or just hire a team to arrange everything else.

Louise & Phillip had their ceremony in the local church in Outwood, just a short drive away. It was a very warm and dry day in mid-September. With the large space available everyone had a fantastic time including the little ones that enjoyed interacting with the farm animals. The food was delicious BBQ freshly made by the barn.

Gildings Barns

Staying in the area of Gatwick Airport on the other of it in Dorking there’s the amazing Gildings Barns. This barn was converted to host weddings and events exclusively and you’ll find everything that you and your guests need for an unforgettable day.

Hannah & Jason celebrated their wedding here in the spring. It felt like mid-summer with the warm weather and dry landscape which gave us a beautiful backdrop for their photos.

Pine Ridge Golf Club

Here is a golf club that looks so different from the so many that I have worked in. Pine Ridge Golf Club is nestled in the Surrey countryside close to Farnborough. Surrounded by pine forest is a great setting for small to mid-size wedding celebrations.

Marry & Callum had to postpone their wedding date due to the lockdowns and arranged it for a Thursday in November 2022. Even with the rain during the day, we could manage all the essential family and couple portraits at the stunning front garden of this unique venue.

Kingswood Golf & Country Club

If you are planning your big day around Tadworth Kingswood Golf & Country Club could be a great choice if you like the outdoors and need a place that can accommodate you and your wedding party for getting ready. I particularly liked the reception room with super large windows and plenty of natural light.

Laura & Wayne had their wedding here not long ago in the mid-summer season. The golf course was really busy but this didn’t affect us taking beautiful portraits as the venue has a woodland area for the newlywed ones!

Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa

You gotta admire the views of this hotel by Frensham Great Pond in Farnham. Whether you are planning a summer wedding or a cosy autumn/winter celebration this venue will give you some romantic vibes that are missing from many venues. You can stay overnight for easy getting ready and stress-free preparations.

Victoria & Stefan had a summer wedding at Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa. It was a smaller, more intimate celebration and the photos turned out amazing!

Woodlands Park Hotel

Another beautiful hotel from the Handpicked Hotels chain between Oxshott and Leatherhead. This stunning historic country house is a perfect setting for your unforgettable day. Large gardens and luxurious indoors will take your guest’s breath away.

Laurence & Kim held their wedding reception after saying yes at the Leatherhead Registry Office on a late spring afternoon. It was an intimate celebration filled with joy and emotions.

Hillfields Farm Wedding Venue

Just north of Reading you will find a real hidden gem the Hillfields Farm. The stunning barn venue with rustic buildings and authentic countryside setting is one of my favourite ones in Surrey. If the weather is nice have your ceremony outdoors under some old and beautiful trees with some of the most stunning views.

India & Charlie have chosen this venue for their summer wedding in 2022. They had a fairly large celebration with loads of activities for everyone. I visited the place together with them before the wedding day and we took some amazing pre-wedding photos here.

Rivervale Barn

Not exactly Surrey, but so close in Hampshire, Yateley the Rivervale Barn is a fantastic choice for having a unique day with a rustic barn setup and spectacular gardens. It’s a very popular venue with 5-7 weddings a week in the summer you’ll need to enquire there early. Both indoor and outdoor ceremony places are stunning and the large barn for wedding breakfast will be perfect for a mid-size celebration.

Kat & Cameron have chosen a day during the week which can be also more cost-effective. They had a slightly nerdy (Skyrim) theme which I loved. Oh, and it was the hottest day on record something around 43C!
